Las Candelas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Five girls from the village enter the church, singing and dressed in regional costumes, and make offerings to the Virgin: two doves and a &#8220;rosca de pi\u00f1onate&#8221;, a typical sweet of the village.<\/p>\n\n<p>Its origin dates back to Pope Gelasius, in 496, who instituted the feast of the Purification of the Virgin, assimilating Roman and other previous celebrations in which fertility was worshipped.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dressed in the typical regional costume, they are called &#8220;purificadas&#8221;.
